Ron Barnard
Ron is 43 years old. He has been married to Karen for 20 years, and they have two awesome sons, Isaac (19) and Jacob (20).
Ron is originally from Arkansas and was first credentialed as a minister with the Assemblies of God there. He served in youth ministry full-time before leaving Arkansas in 1992 to ultimately become involved with Chi Alpha student ministries and US Missions.
They are now in their 17th year of campus ministry with Chi Alpha. They spent the first seven of their years with Chi Alpha at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana.
Then in 1999, they were invited to pioneer the Appalachian District for Chi Alpha. Ron was the campus pastor at Virginia Tech University, as well as the District Chi Alpha Rep in Appalachia. They were blessed in seeing God build a strong Chi Alpha ministry at Virginia Tech, as well as plant new ministries at both Marshall and Radford Universities. He served for two and a half years as the District Chi Alpha director in Arkansas.
In 2008, they relocated back to Virginia to serve as the Southeast Region Missional Resource person with Chi Alpha. Though he is no longer on a local campus, Ron does much to aid in the planting and growing of campus groups and do teachings geared toward effective personal witness and evangelism.
Ron’s primary roles at the moment involve speaking at conferences and retreats both in the US and abroad. He most often travels to Southern Africa, where he also facilitates missions trips for university students from the states. He also serves as the Appalachian A/G Church Planting and Revitalization coordinator.
Lastly, Ron is a part of the pastoral team at Dwelling Place Christian Fellowship in Christiansburg, Virginia, a growing church with vision for discipleship, connection and outreach.
